Classical paddhatis assume you are in Bhārata (Jambu Dweepe · Bhārata Varshe · Bhārata Khande). Outside India there is no single Purāṇic address — temples use working conventions. This tool labels those clearly and lets you switch.

  1. Continent — where you are (Asia, Europe & UK, North America, …).
  2. Which line do you recite? — pick your temple’s convention (e.g. UK Śālmali, US Krauñca, Bangera-type forks for SA/Africa/Australia, or keep Jambu–Bhārata). Use Compare lines to see two side by side. The full geography clause updates below.
  3. City / country soil — optional tags like Singapore, Gulf, Canada, or New Zealand. These never change your dvīpa line.

What is tarpana sankalpam?
Tarpana sankalpam is the resolve recited before pitru tarpana. It names the cosmic era, the classical geography line (dvīpa, varṣa, khaṇḍa, Meru) for your landmass, the day’s panchang limbs, and closes with the tilatarpaṇa formula (…-pratyāmnāyaṃ tilatarpaṇaṃ kariṣye).
What do dvīpa, varṣa and khaṇḍa mean?
The seven Purāṇic continents (sapta-dvīpa) are named after sacred trees, plants, or landmarks — for example Jambu after the Jamun tree, Śāka after teak. Varṣa is a major region inside a dvīpa; khaṇḍa is the local subdivision. Hover the ? marks on the geography panel for full etymologies.
What is Jambu Dweepe in sankalpam?
Jambu Dweepe (with Bharata Varshe, Bharata Khande) is the geography line commonly used for Asia’s central subcontinent — India and much of South and East Asia, including Singapore and the Gulf in this map.
Which sankalpam for USA or Canada?
North America typically uses Krouncha Dweepe, Ramanaka Varshe, Aindra Khande, Merohe Paschimottara Digbhage. Open the United States or Canada landing for the full Saṅkalpam with that geography.
Can I change the continent?
